SCHOONER FISH TRAP:
Wayde, Barb & Lee Fries checked the Schooner trap Monday morning, leaving at 8:00 am. There were no fish in the trap but there was only 2 inches of water above the 8 inches of gravel and silt in the bottom. Wayde & Lee shoveled out the gravel and left with it clean, both gates on the trap floor and 8 to 10 inches of water flowing through. It looks like an engineering solution will have to be designed to try and keep the gravel from filling the trap. The way the gravel bar in front of the trap, the water flow and water direction are the gravel will continue to inundate the trap. Possibly raising the dam height, removing the sand bags or something else can be done to help. We were back in Newport by 10:30 am.

This in from Barb..............great pics
Lee Fries went with Wayde and I to the Schooner Creek fish trap this morning (Nov. 24th). It was Lee's first time at the trap and he literally jumped in with both feet. There were no fish in the trap but a lot of shoveling to clear it of debris. That's him crawling underneath the gate to get to the other side to shovel. No doubt he is going to be a great addition to our Club . . .
